Vizyontech is developing an architecture that intelligently targets specific imaging needs, and processes real-time data with the controlling electronics design and algorithms specifically for the ultrasound-producing silicon structures. Vizyontech refers to this novel and proprietary 'targeted ultrasound' core competency as its MAPT Technology (Map Acoustically Procedure Target).
Other ultrasound companies are tied to a ceramic crystal technology that is over 40 years old. Their resultant controlling electronic architecture is for ultrasound data acquisition in a two-dimensional plane. The ceramic crystal is capable of only two-dimensional (2D) data acquisition. Vizyontech decided on an all-silicon-chip technology to capture actual three-dimensional (3D) data and patented the architecture and algorithms to achieve this vastly improved ultrasound imaging tool.
Our investigation in clinical settings with doctors and patients looked at the main challenges in medical imaging and gave first-hand validation to our product platform as a great solution. Currently, ultrasound imaging is 100% user-dependent and results in high re-scan rates. The result is a long work-flow time, uneven quality, scans that cannot be reliably reproduced and low 3D image quality - which are major problems in today's diagnostic imaging. The patients are most worried about the accuracy of the diagnosis, especially when facing breast biopsy and follow-on surgical and imaging procedures. They also experience discomfort during compression for imaging exams using existing technologies, especially after biopsy, surgery, or radiation treatment.
